Three layers of digital asset security: ColdShield® deep dive

Category: Webinars  /  Published:

ColdShield® built on scientific foundations

Burcu Atalan, Senior Product Manager, explained that ColdShield® emerged from user needs for secure asset storage without external dependency, emphasizing data sovereignty principles. The technology addresses emerging opportunities like tokenization of real-world assets, staking, and payment infrastructure.

Ahmet Mesut Şahinoğlu, Engineering Manager, stressed that in digital asset security, who accesses the system and with what authority matters as much as how keys are stored. ColdShield® combines MPC, Secure Enclave, and HSM technologies, grounding security claims in scientific principles.

Admin Council eliminates singular authority risk

The Admin Council feature addresses role separation requirements. Critical operations — new authorization definitions, rule changes, and secure address additions — require multi-signature approval. Each member receives non-exportable digital certificates that log all transaction history, instantly triggering alarms for unauthorized attempts.

Rule Engine operates on deny-by-default principle

The policy system launches with an immutable rule blocking all transfers. Permissions expand only through explicit definition. Every rule modification preserves its audit trail; any tampering breaks integrity and halts the system.

Historical breaches often involved HSM blind signing triggered through third-party source manipulation. ColdShield® hashes critical parameters at transaction creation and validates them through policy mechanisms. QR codes exclusively transfer data to HSMs — no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections. Pre-signature verification confirms request origin, applicable policy rules, and source authorization.
